Everything in GlissNotes

A notes app that keeps up with a working day: quick to open, honest about where your text lives, and organised enough to run a project from.

The editor

One text, three views

A note is Markdown. How you look at it is up to you, and you can switch at any time without converting anything.

  • Rich — headings, bold, lists, checkboxes, tables, links and code blocks, with a formatting bar
  • Plain — just the text, for when formatting gets in the way
  • Code — line numbers, syntax highlighting, a minimap, word wrap and go-to-line
  • Switching view never rewrites your text

Organise

Projects, tags and deadlines

Structure appears when you need it and stays out of the way when you do not.

  • Projects with their own colour, created and renamed from the Explorer or the note itself
  • Tags for topics that cut across projects — filter from the sidebar or search #tag
  • Due dates with badges that turn amber within three days and red once late
  • Upcoming, Overdue, Today and Favourites views built in

Search

Find anything, fast

⌘K opens one box that searches note titles, their contents, tags and projects, and shows the matching line as a snippet.

  • Regular-expression find and replace, in one note or across all of them
  • Quick open by file name when you are working in a folder
  • Go to line, keyboard shortcuts and every menu command from the same box

Claude & MCP

Claude works in your notes

GlissNotes is an MCP server as well as an app. One click in Settings adds it to Claude Desktop or Claude Code.

  • Tools: list and search notes, read, create, append, update, and save prompts
  • Prompts you save appear in Claude’s own prompt list
  • Runs locally over stdio — nothing is uploaded anywhere
  • Notes Claude changes appear in the app as soon as it regains focus

Files

A real code editor when you need one

The engine behind the code view is built for large files: a piece table keeps edits fast whether the file is ten lines or a hundred thousand.

  • Line operations: duplicate, move, join, sort, dedupe, trim, change case
  • Tabs, a folder tree, quick open, recent files and reopen-closed
  • Encoding and line endings shown in the status bar, with conversion

And the rest

Small things that add up

Local-first storage

One notes.json, written atomically, with fourteen daily snapshots you can restore from Settings.

Optional sync

Google or an email link. Per-note merge, deletions propagate, file-backed notes stay local.

Fast by construction

Rust, Tauri and the system WebView. Fat LTO builds tuned for Apple Silicon, under 5 MB.

Public share links

Turn any note into a read-only page, with no account. Set an expiry, see who opened it, stop sharing in one click.

Two layouts

Workspace with a notes list, or a Notepad-style editor with tabs. Switch whenever.

Keyboard first

Every action has a shortcut and lives in the palette. Press F1 for the full list.

Everywhere

macOS, Windows and the browser, plus Android as an installable PWA.

See it for yourself

The web app has the same editor, projects, tags and board. No download, no account.
